Your Guide to Harvesting Garlic Scapes & Bulbs

We’re here to help you with some tips on what to do after cutting your garlic scapes and how to know when it’s time to harvest your garlic bulbs. Plus, don’t miss out on our garlic sale!

What to Do Once You’ve Cut Your Scapes:

Cutting your scapes encourages the plant to direct more energy into growing a bigger bulb. After you’ve cut your scapes, you can use them in a variety of delicious dishes! They’re perfect for making pesto (check out our favorite recipe here), adding to stir-fries, or grilling.

How to Know When to Harvest Your Garlic:

Timing is everything when it comes to harvesting garlic. Here’s how to tell when your garlic is ready:

Leaf Count:

Look for the bottom 3-4 leaves to turn brown while the upper leaves remain green.

Bulb Check:

Gently dig up a bulb and check if the cloves are plump and well-formed, with skins that are thick and papery.

Remember, harvesting too early or too late can affect the storage quality of your garlic, so keep a close eye on those leaves!
